Monroe Hospital Facilities Memorial Hospital on Steward Road This was protestant Memorial hospital once located at the end of Maple Boulevard where flooding is a severe problem. The governing board of this hospital wisely chose this location on a large tract of vacant land to permit expansion. The governance of the combined Mercy Memorial system chose ot overbuild the Macomb Street site and failed to expanded by demolition of residental housing for the needed parking.
Mercy Hospital on Macomb Street Mercy was a historically a catholic hospital. The building shown above (now demolished for parking) was modern with all mechanical systems and access requirements met. If you are a hospital you can get by on the same philosophy as a cancer cell—destroy and grow! The destruction provided tons of copper and other metals to a Toledo scrap yard and debris to a landfill. Copyright 2002 - 2011 All rights reserved David Alkire Smith © Photographic Collection
