If you are considering locating a heavy industrial facility to Monroe, such as a stamping plant or even a blast furnace, you will find a limestone bedrock foundation capable of supporting it.

The city of Monroe has three major trunk line railroads that run from Toledo to Detroit.  With Federal support and local financing tracks have been consolidated and an underpass provided under two of the three rail lines.  Achieving this while maintaining rail traffic has been a major engineering challenge.

This photograph illustrates the thick limestone strata underlying the city.
